Delete your HQ Discovery data
HQ Discovery has no sign-up. If you saved or followed anything, the app created an anonymous profile. You can delete it, and everything in it, in two ways.
In the app, right away
- Open HQ Discovery and tap Profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my data.
- Confirm with Delete.
Your data is deleted from our servers straight away, then from your phone. If you are offline, nothing is deleted and the app tells you so; try again once you are connected.
Without the app
Uninstalled HQ Discovery, or lost your phone? Email us from any address and include your recovery code — you will find it in the app under Profile → Recovery code. We will reply to confirm whether we found your data and deleted it.
[email protected]No recovery code? Then we cannot tell which profile is yours, and we will not ask you for other personal details to find it. Profiles unused for 13 months are deleted automatically.
What is deleted, and what is kept
- Anonymous profile ID, access key and recovery code
- Deleted from our servers
- Saved stories and followed people
- Deleted from our servers
- The copy on your phone
- Deleted when you use Delete my data in the app. A phone that still has HQ Discovery after an email request keeps its own copy, but will not upload it again unless someone taps Back up again on that phone
- Anything else
- Nothing else is kept. We never had your name, email or phone number
