Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. You can read everything without signing up. The first time you save a story or follow someone, the app creates an anonymous profile with no name, email or phone number, so your library can be restored.

How do I delete my data?

In the app: Profile → Delete my data, then confirm. It is deleted from our servers straight away, then from your phone. Without the app, follow the steps on the Delete your data page.

What is the recovery code?

A code that identifies your anonymous profile. Keep it to restore your library on a new phone, or to ask us to delete your data if you no longer have the app. Find it under Profile → Recovery code.

Where do the stories come from?

From news outlets. Our editors group coverage of the same moment, write a short summary and list every outlet. Tapping an outlet opens its original article.

Who took the photos?

Every photo shows its author and licence in the app — tap the credit on the photo to see it.

Does it cost anything?

No. HQ Discovery is free, has no ads and no in-app purchases, so there is nothing to restore.

Why does a story say it could not load?

HQ Discovery needs an internet connection to fetch the edition. Check your connection and tap Try again. Your saved library stays on your phone either way.
